Where: Hilton Head, NC • Southern Pines Beach
Notes: There is a certain tranquility that comes with watching the sunset. But this is not so for everyone (right). My endeavors with nature photography have increased the frequency of witnessing such events, so I try to capture the beauty of the twilight when the circumstances warrant. With my camera adjusted for the fading light, I waited for something to happen. Then in the distance, a few Pelicans made their way up the beach. Spotting them so far away gave me time to find them in the lens and obtain focus on the distant bird. Then as it came closer and passed in front of the amber glow of the sunset, I clicked as many frames as I could. I liked this one the best, though it was silhouetted, it still showed some detail in the deep shadows. For me, waiting for the last rays of light for the day is most often a rewarding use of patience. |
