Grasshopper Sparrow
Where: Bedford County, VA
Equipment: Canon EOS D20 with 100-400mm Zoom L Series Lens with Image Stabilizer • Hand Held
Exposure: Shutter Speed = 1/500 • Aperture = f 8.0 • Exposure Mode = Program • Lens (Focal) Length = 400 mm • ISO = 200 • Aprox. Camera Distance = ~15 Feet • Date Shot: 05-16-06
Notes: Most of the time when a bird is perched in close proximity to the roadside it will fly away when a vehicle approaches or stops. But every once in a while they don't, as in this case. I was able to come to a complete stop in my car, turn off the ignition (to eliminate vibration blur), and shoot about two dozen shots before this Grasshopper Sparrow returned to its grassy meadow.
