Where: Richmond, VA • Virginia Notes: Hearing the "sweet, sweet, little bit of sweet" sounding call of the Yellow Warbler from my backyard this spring, reminds me of days past in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Botetourt County, Virginia. Traveling the countryside roads that paralleled lowland creeks, that crisp call could be heard at nearly every stop. The Sycamore and Boxelder Trees must have had something to do with the presence of those golden beauties, as they were always near by. This male bird was quite a treat as it visited my backyard birdbath as it passed through to the mountains on its spring migration. |
