2021 National Audubon Photography Awards

I am honored to have received this recognition from this prestigious national competition. Here is the story–having photographed this flock of Cedar Waxwings over the previous couple of days at "The BirdSpa," I had captured plenty of still shots, that I was very happy with. Then, I noticed the flock dropping down to the birdbath once again. After the first few birds arrived, it seemed nothing would stop the rest of the group from their thirsty mission. So I grabbed my camera, tripod and a beach towel and laid down with my elbows on the grass, about 15 feet away from the “Bird Spa.” Then, I threw the towel over my head, to act as a blind. In that moment, I decided to switch over to video mode. Within just a few minutes, a single Waxwing dropped to the water’s edge, and then a few more followed, then more and more came. In and out they continued. I ended up shooting about half a dozen videos over the next hour.
